Drew Webb is the principal and COO of PhotoBiometrics LLC, based in North Salem, NH. He has worked in the photographic industry for over 40 years, including work as a professional photographer doing commercial and advertising work, portraiture, sports, and wedding photography. He has been a technical sales and service representative for photographic products to the graphic arts, scientific, law enforcement, security/identification, and professional photographic markets, and has been working with digital imaging technology in these fields since the late 1980’s. Drew has been teaching law enforcement photography since 1973 when he was a Polaroid Technical Products Representative , starting in New England by working with the regional FBI photographic training Special Agent as part of a nationwide program to standardize and improve evidence gathering. These courses were taught under the FBI’s auspices, and were presented in the Academies of each of the New England states. In the years since then, thousands of officers have participated in these and other classes or programs taught or managed by Drew.
In 1978, Drew founded the first Polaroid Corporation law enforcement marketing group, and since then has participated and consulted in the design and development of several law enforcement photography products and technologies. His areas of experience and knowledge include product development, marketing, and business unit management in the areas of scientific, medical, commercial, graphic arts, and technical photography. He has created and led sales and marketing teams, introduced numerous new products, led OEM technology/intellectual property transfer and sales groups, and managed technology based business units, at times including having the General Managers of those units report to him. These businesses played a key role in Polaroid’s overall ID and Security marketing strategy, whereby Polaroid camera technology and films became the dominant image recording modality. He served as Polaroid’s corporate representative to the Professional Photographers of America, and taught at it’s Winona School of Professional Photography; lectured and/or platform presented at the New England Institute of Professional Photography and several regional professional photography organizations around the country; has served on the Advisory Board of the Hallmark Institute of Professional Photography in Turners Falls, MA; as a member of the Board of Directors of the International Photography Hall of Fame; on the Board of Directors of the Photographic Arts and Sciences Foundation; as a member of the Board of Directors of the Photographic Manufacturers and Distributors Association; and as the Chair of the NEDIAI AFIS Users Group. He continues to be active in industry and technology associations in both law enforcement and photography.
In 1999, after 26 years with Polaroid Corporation, Drew left and was a founder of two Internet vertical portals serving the Law Enforcement and Security Industry fields, BadgeBoys and Security Edge, along with partners retired from the FBI and from US Army Intelligence. He has since served as the Director of Sales and Marketing for Integrated Biometric Technology of Nashville, Tennessee, a premier and early maker and marketer of livescan (a.k.a. electronic) fingerprint capture workstations and networks for the financial industry that is now part of Morphotrust/Idemia, and as Chief Operating Associate for Forensic Consulting Associates of New England LLC.
